Vickey (Barnhill) Caskey

Vickey Barnhill Caskey, age 78, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday February 12, 2026 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.  She was born in Gaston County, the daughter of the late Addie Grigg Barnhill, and James Barnhill.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Bill Caskey.

She was a longtime active member of Spencer Mountain Baptist Church where she was known as the "Candy Lady" .  In her free time, she loved to go shopping and take trips to the beach and mountains.  She loved her entire family including her cats.  

Those left to cherish her memory include her step son Joey Caskey (Wynn), step daughter Cheryl Caskey, her sister Judy Jenkins (Junior), her nephew Tim Jenkins (Karen), her nieces: Andrea Schuler, and Julie Jenkins, great nephew Roger Schuler, as well as her special friends : Louiy Figueroa, Diane Meeks, Rose Marie Ramsey, Shelia Price, Violet Hawks and Frances Stamey, as well as numerous cousins.  

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday February 17, 2026 at Spencer Mountain Baptist Church with Pastor William Calvert officiating.  The family will receive friends, beginning one hour prior to the funeral service also at the Church.  Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Spencer Mountain Baptist Church.
