Connie Sherrill Kluttz
GASTONIA—Connie Sherrill Kluttz, 64, of Gastonia passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Carolina Caring’s Robin Johnson House in Dallas following a recent advanced cancer diagnosis.
A celebration of Connie’s life will begin at 2 pm Saturday, April 11, at First Presbyterian Church of Stanley, with the Rev. Jay Krestar officiating. Her family will host a visitation in the church fellowship hall following the service.
A life-long Gaston County native, Connie was born to Floyd David Sherrill and Lucille Helms Sherrill on June 4, 1961. She married the love of her life Carl Dwight Kluttz, Jr., on December 23, 1993, who survives.
Connie attended East Gaston High School and enjoyed a long career in the textile industry, first as a precision machinist for Speizman Industries and later as a purchasing manager of machines and parts for SPM Textiles, both in Charlotte. Her favorite hobbies were studying the comings and goings of wild birds, especially hummingbirds, and nurturing flowering plants, mostly indoors. Her favorite was the tropical beauty Clivia whose clusters of peach-colored blossoms were in full bloom the day she passed.
Left to cherish her memory are Carl, her husband of 32 years; their daughter, Carly Logan Kluttz and fiancé Brandon Rowell; two bonus children, Andrea K. Fetterly and husband Rob, and Josh Kluttz; four grandchildren, Austin Kluttz, Jaxon Fetterly, Kameron Kluttz and Logan Kluttz; a sister, Cathy West; a brother, Chris Sherrill(Becky); one niece, Hannah Sherrill; two nephews, Jason and Jerimy Black; and her faithful chiweenie dog, ChiChi.
Memorial gifts in Connie’s name may be directed to Carolina Wildlife Conservation Center at www.carolinaconservation.com or to First Presbyterian Church of Stanley for its mission programs near and far.
Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mt. Holly is serving the Kluttz family.
