Eugene "Catfish" Pressley, 76, was reunited with his wife in Heaven on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. He was born in Gaston County, son of the late Durward Pressley and Grace Dover Pressley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 30 years, Mae Gardner Pressley; and a number of siblings. Mr. Pressley was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a longtime active member of First Free Will Baptist Church, Mount Holly. He was a wonderful Paw-Paw and his grandbabies were his world.
Mr. Pressley is survived by his children, Brad, Kim, Crystal, Robbie and Brandi; 11 grandchildren, whom he loved immensely; his sister, Christine Breedlove; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Pressley will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at First Free Will Baptist Church, Mount Holly. Pastor Randy Arrowood will officiate. Burial will follow, with military honors, at Evergreen Cemetery, Belmont. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at the church. As Mr. Pressley was an avid hat wearer the family asks that those attending the graveside portion of his service wear a hat in his memory.
